| Signature | The board is bookmatched from two consecutive flitch-cut boards joined at the centerline, so the grain pattern on one half is a mirror image of the grain on the other half across an invisible seam, the wood's own figure opens outward from the centerline like the two pages of an open book, the tree reading as itself again. |
